I consider myself lucky enough to have a friend back in the UK who puts me down as her Sky Go user.? That means I get to watch my beloved Sky Sports from the middle east; even the other sky channels if I chose to.? Leaving my Sky TV was one of the things that made me quite anxious about moving here; as sad as that may be for some.? I love sports and Sky do them really well.
But since I?ve been watching it, I can?t get over the amount of Insurance ads that are on breaks from whatever game or show is on; that and the amount of Insurance and Claim advertisements there is on TV in the UK, or other parts of the world for that matter.
A lot of people want to cover themselves.? If their home gets broken into, they want to make sure that their contents are covered; if they get sick and miss work, they want to make sure that they still have some money to pay for bills, food and life?s other expenses.? And while anyone can understand how it makes sense to insure your possessions, when it comes to making sure you don?t get sick quite so often, miss work, and don?t get paid, I have an even better solution????
Look after yourself.? Eat better.? Exercise.? Take control of your situation by starting an exercise programme that is specific and right for you.? The health benefits alone are worth it.? I mean, other people may prefer to go with a company like www.aviva.ie, and that is absolutely fine.? It?s all about peace of mind.
But the most important company that you could ever invest in is yourself.? Performing regular, moderate exercise will go a long way in keeping fit and healthy which will allow you to live a longer and happier life.? You will have more time to spend with your family and friends, and play with your grandchildren; something which I can see in my own parents, especially when I see them with my sisters three girls.
By definition, moderate activity is not that challenging.? A walk which makes you slightly out of breath, something that makes you feel a bit warmer, begin to glow or even glisten slightly from sweat.? It?s not a gruelling training session with a world champion boxer, or an Olympian.? It?s all based around what you can do and what your levels are.? If level 2 is moderate for you right now, then that?s where you need to be.? As you become more ?fit?, then you can push it up to level 3, until you adapt to that level and keep progressing that way.
The main point is that you keep progressing; you keep going and you don?t lose your momentum.? Losing your momentum is something which happens to all of us, including me.? I had my first hard workout in around 2 weeks 2 days ago (and I?m still stiff from it).? We were in Italy on holiday with our families, and by the time we got back I had lost the momentum which was keeping me moving forward with my training.? It was just as easy to not train as it was to train.
So one day I forced myself to get changed and get back in the pool for a swim and water walking session.? It?s surprising how much better it is than you think it?s going to be, as you anticipate the horribleness you are about to endure.
Later that day, I had a hard workout with a client and the momentum train is back on track! All aboard!
So while companies like Aviva might be a great backup plan for some things and some people, I would strongly encourage you to take control of your own situation and take out the easiest form of health insurance policy there is; YOU.? No forms, no call centres, or being put on hold.? Just consistent moderate physical exercise to help you live a longer and healthier life.
